How did you become involved in football and when?
I progressed from being taken to watch my father play to playing and following football with great enthusiasm. I was instrumental in reforming the village club at Thorney in 1968 and followed on to serve on a number of League Committees in the Peterborough area before becoming Secretary of the Isle of Ely League in 1989 before moving on to my present position in 2001. I somehow managed to move from team management to refereeing in the late eighties and I wish I had made the move sooner!
What is your greatest achievement in football?
I hope to be able to say, when I eventually give up my active role in the game, that I did what I hoped to do in the game. Moreover, completing 20 years as a Referee must be an achievement.
What do you most enjoy about your role at the Cambridgeshire FA?
The every day involvement with Clubs and Referees and the variety of tasks that come from this, with the satisfaction at the end of a season that has run smoothly.
And what is your greatest challenge in your work?
Keeping up with the numerous things that can occur each week.
Your favourite team?
Having been initiated into the game in the era of the Busby Babes, who else is there but Manchester United?!?
