Ability Counts Football Kicks Off

11:36 AM, Monday, 26 October 09. Disability football

It all kicked off in October for adults and juniors with disabilities as the Cambridgeshire Ability Counts League got underway.

Juniors

The junior league began on Saturday October 3rd at Histon and Impington Recreation Ground.  Despite the windy conditions, teams enjoyed the matches and all played each other once in some close fought games.

After the first set of fixtures Cambs Deaf Utd top the league on goal difference with Castle close behind.

All the results and the league table can be found on FULL-TIME

The remaining fixtures are as follows:

• 7th November – Peterborough
• 5th December – St Ives (Indoors)
• 23rd January 2010 – St Ives (Indoors)
• 27th February 2010 – Wisbech
• 27th March 2010 – Swavesey
• 24th April 2010 - Histon

Adults

The adult league started on Wednesday 21st October in the pouring rain at Coldham's Common.  The rain could not dampen the spirits of the teams who for some were playing competitive football for the first time.

All the results and the league table can be found on FULL-TIME

The remaining fixtures are as follows:

• 25th Nov 2009
• 24th Feb 2010
• 17th March 2010
• 28th April 2010

Cambridgeshire Ability Counts League was granted funding from Awards for All for coaching in day centres and out of school clubs. This has enabled more clubs to set up and take part in the Cambridgeshire Ability Counts League for the 2009-10 season.
